More than 1100 new public transport units will arrive in the regions in the next three years thanks to the "Safe Quality Roads" national project
Thanks to the national project "Safe Quality Roads" 1161 units of new public transport will be supplied to 21 urban agglomerations in 2022-2024. About 10 billion rubles will be allocated for these purposes from the federal budget.
Within the scope of the national project, much attention is paid not only to bringing the country's road network into a normative state, but also to updating public transport. It is very important that the rolling stock is comfortable and modern, because the safety of passengers depends on it. In the next three years, the regions will receive 934 buses, 200 trolleybuses and 27 trams.
The new transport will be delivered to Novosibirsk, Tula, Omsk, Volgograd, Chelyabinsk, Cheboksary, Nizhny Novgorod, Perm, Sochi, Kursk, Orenburg, Petrozavodsk, Ufa, Bryansk, Astrakhan, Ulan-Ude, Saratov, Tomsk, Izhevsk, Vladivostok and Ryazan urban agglomerations.
The list of regions in which the rolling stock will be updated was approved by the Ministry of Transport of Russia based on the results of a competitive selection. In total, applications were received from 44 regions. When considering them, the commission assessed the level of development of public transport in cities. The selection criteria were the availability of contactless fare payment systems, the organisation of dedicated lanes for public transport, the availability of approved transport planning documents, compliance with schedules and a number of other indicators.
JSC "State transport leasing company" is the operator of the program of public transport supplies under the national project. The rolling stock will be purchased with a significant discount using the mechanism of preferential leasing.
All transport arriving in cities under the national project is equipped in accordance with modern requirements and provides comfortable and safe transportation of passengers. It takes into account the needs of people with disabilities and people with low mobility: it has a low floor and hinged ramps. In addition, all vehicles coming to the regions under the national project are environmentally friendly.
Thanks to the national project "Safe Quality Roads", 1131 new buses, trolleybuses and trams have already been delivered to the regions in 2020-2021.
In addition, in order to scale up the rolling stock renewal measures, an investment project is currently under development that envisages the attraction of 44 billion rubles from the National Welfare Fund. The implementation of the investment project will make it possible to supply 2654 vehicles to the regions on non-commercial leasing terms in 2022-2024.
