More than 1.5 thousand km of Novosibirsk roads have been built, reconstructed and repaired since the beginning of the implementation of the national road project
On November 19, as part of the "Transport Week 2024", a working meeting was held in Gostiny Dvor between the head of the Federal Road Agency Roman Novikov and the Governor of the Novosibirsk Region Andrey Travnikov. The agenda of the meeting includes the development of a backbone network of highways in the region, as well as the results of the implementation of the national project "Safe high–quality roads".
Anatoly Kostylevsky, Minister of Transport and Road Management of the Novosibirsk Region, as well as heads of relevant departments of Rosavtodor and its subordinate institutions, are also among the participants of the event.
Roman Novikov recalled the importance of modernizing the backbone road network of the Novosibirsk region, which now has a length of 1,782.6 km. Moreover, the primary role is played by measures for the construction and reconstruction of federal highways.
At the moment, the largest project is the construction of the Eastern Bypass of Novosibirsk, which will become an important understudy of the R–256 Chuysky Tract highway at the entrance to the million-strong city, where traffic intensity reaches 60 thousand cars per day.
The implementation is planned in four stages. At the moment, the construction of the first stage with a length of 20 km is underway. Last year, traffic was opened at two transport interchanges – at the intersection with the K19r highway and near the village of Novolugovoye. This autumn, work has been fully completed on the 10.7 km long segment, and traffic will be opened next year. The commissioning of the entire first stage is scheduled for 2026.
Among the important promising projects mentioned were the overhaul of the Chuysky Tract with the addition of up to four lanes. Currently, traffic on this highway is carried out in overload mode, while the highest intensity is recorded on the section passing through the territory of the Novosibirsk region, with peak values in the area of Novosibirsk Akademgorodok and the city of Berdsk – up to 78 thousand cars per day.
Currently, design documentation has been developed for the overhaul of the highway section from 51st to 62nd km. Sections from 62nd to 102nd km and from 102nd to 135th km are under development.
In addition, the construction and reconstruction of sections of the R-254 Irtysh highway are being discussed. This federal highway on the km 1421 – km 1442 section has a II technical category and a peak traffic intensity of more than 25.7 thousand vehicles per day, with 47% being freight transport. In addition, the estimated intensity for the ten-year perspective period will be more than 45 thousand cars per day.
The reconstruction of the highway section will be the final link in bringing the western entrance to Novosibirsk with the parameters of the IB technical category, which is an important component of the transit corridor Moscow – Kazan – Novosibirsk – Mongolia – China, into a normative state.
Andrey Travnikov noted that these and many other facilities will definitely contribute to improving the overall comfort and safety of movement of residents and guests of the region, ensure transport connectivity throughout the Novosibirsk Region and ultimately give a significant boost to economic development.
An important topic on the agenda of the meeting was the implementation of the national project "Safe high-quality roads", which is coming to its logical conclusion this year.
In 2024, thanks to the national road project in the Novosibirsk region, it is planned to bring 96 facilities with a total length of over 266.3 km into standard condition. 11.9 billion rubles have been allocated for these purposes, of which 5.9 are federal budget funds. To date, 80 facilities with a length of more than 244.3 km have been put into operation.
In the Novosibirsk urban agglomeration, work has been completed on all 14 sections of the road network. For example, in the Oktyabrsky district, Vybornaya Street (3 km) was repaired, which provides access to many schools, a pedagogical university and social facilities. In Pervomaisky district, the Heroes of the Revolution Street (3.2 km), which leads to schools, kindergartens, a polyclinic and a maternity hospital, has been renovated.
59 facilities have been put into operation on the regional highway network. Among the most important is the Novosibirsk – Kochki – Pavlodar highway, which is part of the support network of the region and is one of the most important directions along with federal roads leading to Omsk (R-254), Kemerovo (R-255) regions and Altai Territory (R-256). It passes through 5 districts, provides access to more than a hundred settlements and has direct access to the border with the Republic of Kazakhstan. In 2024, thanks to the national project, two sections with a total length of 22.1 km of road were repaired. Both facilities have already been put into operation.
This year in the Novosibirsk region, special attention is being paid to the repair of artificial structures and regional roads included in the support network. For example, the highway 992 km of the R-254 highway - Kupino – Karasuk, which is part of the main road network and connects more than fifty villages in five districts of the region. It is used by more than a thousand cars a day. In 2024, contractors restored 10.4 km of the road. One of the sections — the bypass of the village of Barabo-Yudino — has already been put into operation. It is planned to complete repairs on two more sites by the end of the year.
In total, since the beginning of the implementation of the national project in the Novosibirsk region, repair and major repairs have been carried out at 559 facilities, their total length was 1,481.94 km. 28 facilities (66.26 km) were built and reconstructed.
The length of public roads within the boundaries of the Novosibirsk region is 26,815.2 km (as of 01.01.2024). Of these: federal – 795.8 km; regional – 12,683.7 km; local – 13,335.7 km.
