Thanks to the national project, 440 km of tourist routes have been updated
Thanks to the national project «Safe high-quality roads», initiated by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, since the beginning of 2024, 440 km of regional and local roads have been brought into a normative state to places of tourist inspection: unique natural complexes, architectural monuments, religious buildings, historical sights. In total, 1,5 thousand km of such routes will be updated this year.
Road works on part of the tourist routes included in the work plan for the national project for this year have already been completed.
«Domestic tourism in our country is deservedly gaining momentum. In addition, Russians and foreign tourists are increasingly choosing road trips, so our task is to do everything so that the accompanying infrastructure meets all safety requirements, is comfortable, and significant places are accessible. To do this, within the framework of the national project, we are actively engaged in road renovation. Convenient routes have a positive impact on increasing the tourist and investment attractiveness of the country's subjects. At the same time, new jobs appear, a positive image of the region is being formed. Since the beginning of the road season, work has been completed at 130 sites leading to tourist inspection sites. Their total length is 440 km», – said Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin.
«Domestic tourism provides an incentive for the development of the country's regions, plays an important social role, and affects the improvement of the quality of life of Russians in general. For its development, a high-quality road transport infrastructure is needed, which allows both autotourists and organized groups to comfortably get to a particular location. Thanks to the implementation of the national project "Safe high-quality roads," only in 2024 we will bring to the standards 340 sections of regional and local roads that are part of tourist routes. Their total length will be 1.5 thousand km», – said the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Roman Starovoit.
Roads that can be used to reach tourist inspection sites lead to standards from the very beginning of the national project. During this time, significant results have been achieved.
«Recently, in our country, auto tourism is gaining more and more popularity, as well as weekend tourism, when people briefly travel to other cities and even regions in order to relax, visit attractions, introduce children to our history, introducing them to architectural monuments. To ensure the availability of tourist inspection sites, we have done a great job – from 2019 to 2023, thanks to the national project, over 1,6 thousand road objects with a total length of 8,2 thousand km. have been updated», – said Roman Novikov, head of the Federal Road Agency.
In the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic this year, a 2-kilometer section of the Chegem-2 – Bulungu highway was reconstructed in the gorge where the Chegem waterfalls are located.
Work began in 2022. The specialists faced a difficult task – to complete bank protection work before the flood and increase the water level in the Chegem River. In winter, measures were taken to arrange bottom monolithic retaining walls on bored and cutting piles. On a 2-kilometer section, 956 m of such walls were arranged. On a similar scale, work was carried out on regional routes for the first time.
For the convenience of residents and guests of the republic, the contractor has equipped a pedestrian sidewalk, observation decks and additional parking spaces. The width of the carriageway was brought to 7 m. In order to ensure safety, a railing and barrier fence, new signs and markings were installed. Also in 2022, rock lighting was arranged throughout the facility.
«Kabardino-Balkaria is a mountain republic, the main attractions that thousands of tourists come to admire are located in the mountains and gorges. And our task is to ensure transport accessibility and, at the same time, what is important, the safety of guests and residents of the region. At the same time, when performing repairs, we try to work as carefully as possible in order to preserve our unique landscapes that we love and are proud of», – said Indar Tugov, director of the regional road department of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic.
In the Leningrad region, a section of the road to Staraya Ladoga, a small settlement called the first capital of Ancient Russia, has been updated. In mid-August, the repair of the regional highway connecting Staraya Ladoga and Volkhov was completed here.
«Just over 5km has been updated here over the summer. In the process of work, new asphalt was laid, the shoulders were strengthened and markings were applied. It is important that the repaired road passes near the famous Staroladozhskaya fortress. The repairs will allow residents and guests of Staraya Ladoga to comfortably reach one of the tourist pearls of the North-West of Russia», – said Denis Sedov, head of the Leningrad Region Road Committee.
The section between Volkhov and Staraya Ladoga is part of the long Zuevo-Novaya Ladoga highway connecting the Volkhov and Kirishi districts of the Leningrad Region. On the same road they go to neighboring Karelia, it provides a convenient route between two federal highways – the «Russia» M-10 and the «Cola» R-21. Last year, according to the national project «Safe Quality Roads», 23 km were updated here on the section between Kirish and Glazhevo.
Large-scale work on updating tourist routes this year was carried out in the northern capital – St. Petersburg. So, thanks to the national project, 800 m of Petrovskaya embankment was repaired on the section from Kamennoostrovsky Prospekt to Petrogradskaya embankment.
Petrovskaya embankment is one of the popular tourist sites. Here is the oldest building in the city – the wooden house of Peter I, built in one month with the laying of the city – in 1703.
One of the oldest streets of the city, Gorokhovaya, was repaired ahead of schedule. It passes through the historical center and is a key part of the famous «Eropkin Trident», known as the «Nevsky Trident». The work was carried out from the embankment of the Fontanka River to Admiralteysky Prospekt. There are many iconic places on Gorokhovaya Street: the apartment-museum of Grigory Rasputin, the house of Pushkin's «Queen of Spades» and the famous House with a rotunda.
In the Vasileostrovsky district, the Makarov embankment was brought into a normative state. It originates from Birzhevaya Square, where the Spit of Vasilyevsky Island is located. There are a number of historical sights and architectural monuments, for example, House № 10 is the first St. Petersburg address of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, where artists Ivan Kramskoy and Ivan Shishkin lived.
«The experience of any trip depends a lot on the quality of the road. St. Petersburg is the capital of Russian hospitality, one of the most popular cities among tourists around the world. Of course, the city authorities pay special attention to the state of the road network near attractions. Participation in the national project «Safe high-quality roads» allows you to increase the volume of work performed. This year, repairs have already been carried out on the Makarov embankment leading to the Rostral Columns, the Exchange building and the Kuindzhi Museum-Apartment, on Petrovskaya Embankment near Peter's House and the cruiser Aurora, as well as on Gorokhovaya Street. In total, this year, St. Petersburg road workers plan to repair more than 100 km of roads within the framework of the national project», – said Evgeny Varov, director of the St. Petersburg State Public Institution «Directorate of Transport Construction».
Thanks to the national project «Safe high-quality roads», numerous tourist routes of the Vladimir region are also being updated.
«Only Vladimir city agglomeration includes such cities as Vladimir, Suzdal, Yuryev-Polsky. During the implementation of the national project, more than 20 km of roads leading to attractions located in these cities have been brought to a standard state. The golden gate of the city of Vladimir, Yuryev-Polish monasteries, Suzdal shopping arcade, temples and cathedrals. All these facilities and many others managed to ensure unhindered and comfortable travel within the framework of the national project «Safe high-quality roads», – said Nikolai Tenyakov, Minister of Transport and Roads of the Vladimir Region.
In particular, Suzdal, the city of the Golden Ring of Russia, which recently celebrated its 1000th anniversary, has been transformed. For five years, about 10 km of the road network have been brought into a normative state here. In the process of repair work, in addition to the roadway, sidewalks were brought to the standards, stopping areas and pedestrian crossings were equipped. There are many walking excursions routes along the renovated streets, as well as public transport routes.
In 2024, work was completed on the section of Engels Street from Lenin Street to the intersection with Sadovaya. The roadway was renewed here, a pedestrian crossing was arranged and the sidewalk was repaired. Also, thanks to savings following the results of competitive procedures, the sidewalk on Vspolie Boulevard has been updated (from h. 18 to h. 36).
In Yuryev-Polsky, founded by Yuri Dolgoruky in the XII century, there is a pearl of Vladimir land - St. George Cathedral of the XIII century. In 2024, sections of the road network in the historical center of the city were repaired - on Vladimirskaya Street and Peasant Square. Most often, tourists and pilgrims come here who want to plunge into the princely era and see the masterpieces of white stone architecture.
